Foodie Friday at the Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is always a favorite place to hangout especially during the weekends so we opted to go there last Friday. What’s supposedly a movie-and-mall-stroll date turned out to be one awesome food trip! And since Ramadan is a few days away, we said, why not?

Since it’s a Friday and the metro operates at 2 in the afternoon during this day of the week, we took a cab to Dubai Mall, just 15 to 20 minutes away from Bur Dubai. Arriving at around 12noon, we went for to Chili’s for lunch. This cozy Tex-Mex restaurant is located just beside the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater, on the mall’s first level.

I wasn’t that hungry then so I opted to have Chicken Ranch Sandwich (37 AED), thinking that it wouldn’t be too much for a single serving (but obviously, I was wrong!). Served with homestyle fries, this burger stuffed with crispy breaded chicken breast (that’s way too bigger than the bun!), tomato, lettuce and ranch dressing tastes like heaven! My date got the awesome Fajita Trio (68 AED)–grilled steak and chicken, spicy garlic and lime grilled shrimp–served in a sizzling plate. This came with unlimited plates of tortillas. The serving is too much for us so we sit to finish it for like an hour and a half.

We did some stroll around and found good bargains from the array of shops in the mall. It was three hours later when we felt our tummies grumbling again. The Dubai Fountain is our favorite spot so we chose to have early dinner in the alfresco mOre Cafe. Of course, I took my favorite Indonesian Nasi Goreng (57 AED)–FYI, I’m still on the lookout for the best nasi goreng in town and as of the moment, Noodle House still holds the number 1 spot. The kroepoek is too salty and the rice looks too dark in my opinion and it tasted almost the same as the Chinese Noodles (56 AED) that my boyfriend ordered. However, the noodles resembles the taste of our local pancit canton which we both love.

After the hearty dinner, we searched for Bloomingdale’s Home to check out New York’s Magnolia Bakery our colleague has recommended. I recently obsessed with baking so I got really mesmerized where I got to see their bakers in action – frosting cupcakes. These yummy treats cost from 10 AED and up. Such a sweet deal!
