When I found the words “art” and “brunch” combined in an invitation for a review, I got so excited and quickly responded, “Yes!” Later on, I asked myself how these two elements could work… Could it be just any cliché marketing strategy, calling their product this and that? Well, there’s only one way to find out. Two Fridays back, we learned what The Art of Brunch was all about. The brunch takes place every Friday at Fountain Restaurant in Movenpick Hotel and Apartments Bur Dubai‘s beautiful lobby.
Curious as we were, we arrived in the restaurant a few minutes to 12nn. It might not look so artsy on a bigger scale, but the “art” lies in every detail painstakingly looked after on each and every dish. It’s irresistible to take photos, heck even the staff was happily snapping, too.
What makes the Art of Brunch good is that it looks beautiful and yet, it tasted even better. It’s hard to pick our favorites coz everything competes to stand out – meaning, they’re all awesome. So here’s a quick run through of all the fabulous counters across the Art of Brunch buffet spread.
There are lots of counters distributed across the lobby restaurant. Starting from left is a table dedicated to cheese and breads.
Further inside is an assortment of fancy appetizers. Pick your choice between gourmet starters, cold cuts, salads and soup. Name it and they almost have it all.
There is a good selection of mains – whether you’re up for veggies, chicken, beef, seafood or pork! The pork section, however, is separated from other main courses, a bit far that I missed it during my first round. Next to it is a medley of Indian and Arabic fare.
In the center of the restaurant lies the beautifully arranged dessert spread. Serving as a focal point, together with the piano placed on the landing of the majestic staircase, the sweets table offers a variety of cakes, pies, fruits and puddings.
To the right is the live cooking station where they prepare noodles, Japanese and Korean sushi and sashimi and fresh seafood – oysters, mussels and prawns!
Not too far is the creperie and ice cream booth, with a giant candy container on the side.
But wait, there’s more! We were handed a small menu with a few a la carte dishes should we want something cooked straight from the kitchen. We opted for a serving of the traditional fish and chips.
Kids get to enjoy, too coz there’s a huge room dedicated for them. Though bit tad far from the lobby, the playroom has its own buffet spread of kiddie favorites such as sandwiches, chocolates, candies and biscuits. They have their own small chairs and tables, a giant inflatable to play on, game consoles and lots of toys!
At 1:00PM, a lady came into the piano and started playing. What else could make this brunch more fabulous?
The overwhelming selection of food, the quality of each dish – presentation and taste-wise, good service and ambiance made us hail The Art of Brunch as one of our most favorite Friday brunches to date. The husband was very eager to return. In fact, we’re planning to return soon with friends.
The brunch is priced at 195AED per person, including soft drinks and 295AED with house beverages. Kids below 12 eat free while those from 12-16 yrs old pay half the price. The Art of Brunch starts at 12nn and ends at 4PM, every Friday in Movenpick Hotel and Apartments Bur Dubai. It’s located in Oud Metha, near the American Hospital.
